Commissioning a
Figurative Sculpture
Figurative sculptures come in
all shapes and sizes. Some can take a day, others many weeks or months.
I accept commissions from small pieces for your home or office to
larger work for gardens and monuments.
My work is cast either in plaster, resin, bonded stone
or bronze.
On accepting a figurative commission, I require
a preliminary meeting in my studio, your home or office to become
acquainted with you and discuss your ideas and requirements. Cost
will depend on complexity and size. Included in the overall fee will
be design ideas in sketch or photographic form, and the use of models
if required. Life size pieces or larger require the creation of a
small-scale version 'Maquette' of how the sculpture will look before
progressing to the full size version and will be reflected in the
fee.
An informal written contract will be drawn between artist and client,
outlining what has been discussed and a quote for the completed work.
On commencement of the sculpture a third of the agreed fee is required
in advance. On completion and acceptance of the clay portrait I will
ask for the second instalment and the remaining balance is to be paid
in full upon delivery of the finished portrait sculpture.
If a bronze cast is requested then please allow up to 90 days from
completion of the clay, as the foundry may be busy.
I oversee all aspects of the casting to ensure that the utmost quality
is maintained.
